Read together
Warm, visual stories for shared reading, conversation and the pleasure of returning to a favourite page.
Free stories for growing readers
I am building a free digital reading space for children aged 3 to 5 and 6 to 9, together with the parents, carers and other adults who read with them. The aim is to make opening a story feel easy, welcoming and worth repeating.
In development
The idea
Growing Readers is not a school curriculum or a replacement for teaching. It is a reading-for-pleasure space with original stories, clear age pathways and an experience made for children to return to.
A child should be able to choose a story and begin without pressure. The core reading experience is being designed to remain free to access.
Two places to begin
Warm, visual stories for shared reading, conversation and the pleasure of returning to a favourite page.
Inviting stories for children gaining confidence, with room for imagination, questions and independent discovery.
Why it matters
When children hear, revisit and talk about stories, they meet new language, ideas and feelings. They also learn that books are places worth returning to.
Stories introduce new words and richer ways of expressing ideas.
Children meet unfamiliar places, feelings and points of view.
Repeated, enjoyable reading makes the next page feel easier to open.
Reading together creates time for conversation, questions and attention.
What guides the work
Core reading experiences without a subscription.
Built around curiosity, warmth and how young readers meet a story.
Simple pathways that do not get in the way of reading.
Stories developed deliberately, not simply to fill a catalogue.
Established guidance
Early-years guidance emphasises shared reading, rich language, conversation and a lasting love of books. These sources inform the project without turning it into a curriculum.
Growing Readers
I will share more when the first reading experience is ready to be enjoyed as a whole.
